Hello everyone! Welcome to the highlight hotel of my Tokyo trip this time: The Strings by InterContinental Tokyo.

Let’s get to know this property a bit first. The owner is Tsukada Global Holdings, whose core business is comprehensive wedding services in Japan. They provide everything from venue and banquet management to wedding dresses, beauty, hair, makeup, floral arrangements, photography, videography, and catering. This comprehensive expertise makes The Strings by InterContinental Tokyo an incredibly popular hotel for couples getting married.

The location is absolutely top-notch, situated almost adjacent to Shinagawa Station. You have access to all major train lines, including the Shinkansen, making it incredibly convenient to get to the hotel. Traveling around for sightseeing is a breeze, and there’s even a bus right next to the property that goes directly to Odaiba!

It’s just a 300-meter walk from Shinagawa Station via a connecting walkway. The area around the hotel is extremely abundant—there’s a 7-Eleven and coffee shops on the ground floor. Surrounded by office buildings, the neighborhood also offers plenty of fantastic dining options.

For this stay, I booked a 1 Bedroom Suite 2 Twin (70 sqm), complete with Club access via my Lounge Annual Membership. Normally, this room runs about 35,000 THB per night! But when I checked the rates right before applying my CSU (Confirmable Suite Upgrade), it was hitting 46,000 THB per night. For two nights, that’s nearly 100,000 THB!

The room is grand and massive, with the bedroom and living room completely separated. Upon entering, you’re greeted by a foyer featuring a coat closet, a shoe rack, and a guest bathroom. Walking further in, you enter an impressive living room with a large executive desk. The space is spectacular, featuring a large corner sofa and massive floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic views of the entire Tokyo skyline! The sofa is extremely comfortable, and the large TV is equally impressive.

On the right is the minibar, equipped with a Nespresso machine, TWG tea, and even Hojicha green tea. Amazingly, the entire minibar is complimentary, except for the miniature spirits! This includes soft drinks, wine, liquor, beer, and snacks. It’s an incredible value. They even provided extra mineral water, soda water, and additional treats.

The bedroom itself isn’t overly huge and features a 2 Twin setup. The wardrobe includes an iron, bathrobes, an air purifier, and slippers. They go above and beyond by providing two types of sleepwear: both Japanese and Western styles. It’s brilliantly over the top.

The en-suite bathroom is huge and fully stocked with all the necessary amenities, plus thoughtful extras like bath salts, an exfoliating washcloth, and even face cream! The bathing area features a gorgeous, large bathtub situated next to a massive window, allowing you to soak while taking in the Tokyo city lights at night.

The Club InterContinental is located on the 26th floor, the same level as the main lobby, and you can actually check in directly here. This property only added its Club InterContinental relatively recently, about 3 to 4 years ago. The lounge space isn’t massive, but the views are absolutely stunning, especially during sunset.

The service style here is fully attended by staff, and their hospitality is excellent. Non-alcoholic beverages are served all day, alongside snacks like nuts, candies, and chocolates available for grazing anytime.

The Afternoon Tea is delicious. You get one set per person, featuring sandwiches, scones, and various cakes. But the real highlight is the unlimited, self-serve macarons and canelés. It’s so satisfying!

The Evening Cocktail session is exceptionally well done. The hot food set looks great, and the mini-buffet features beef sandwiches, a salad bar, cheeses, cold cuts, smoked salmon, Chinese glass noodle salad, plenty of fresh fruit, and an abundance of cakes. They even had a wasabi shrimp hand roll. The beverage selection is also top-tier, pouring sparkling wine, spirits, wine, and beer. It’s truly one of the most outstanding Club lounges.

Furthermore, the breakfast at the Club InterContinental is one of the best IC breakfasts I’ve ever had! The Japanese breakfast set features perfectly grilled Snow Fish! The set also includes fresh octopus (tako) and salmon sashimi, accompanied by authentic, freshly grated wasabi. It came with minced tuna and three pieces of pork steak with an incredible sauce. The side dishes were equally refined—bamboo shoots, pickled vegetables, a perfectly balanced pickled plum (umeboshi) that wasn’t overly sour, tofu, grapes, and oranges. On top of that, the croissants and breads are phenomenal, and the fruit selection, featuring melon and cherries, is top quality.

The Strings by InterContinental Tokyo is one of three InterContinental properties in Tokyo. It usually commands a higher price than the other two, but the location is far superior and much easier to walk around. It is completely worth it, especially if you use a CSU to secure a high-tier suite upgrade. The complimentary minibar alone makes it a great deal, not to mention the breakfast, which ranks right at the top of my list. The Club InterContinental food presentations are exceptional across every meal. For anyone looking for an outstanding hotel in Tokyo with a prime location and phenomenal service, this is an absolute must-visit!

This hotel boasts a fantastic prime location in the heart of the city, surrounded by endless conveniences, dining options, and attractions.
It’s also extremely close to Haneda Airport—just a 30-minute train ride away!
The Club InterContinental experience is absolute perfection, with incredible Afternoon Tea and Evening Cocktail presentations.
The rooms are spacious, incredibly comfortable, and offer stunning views. Staying in a suite comes with a complimentary minibar, which is a fantastic perk.
I was thoroughly impressed by the high standard of service that this brand consistently delivers.
Above all, the breakfast at the Club InterContinental is hands down the best. It is exceptionally delicious, top-quality, and an absolute must-try!

Walking further in, you enter an impressive living room with a large executive desk. The space is spectacular, featuring a large corner sofa and massive floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic views of the entire Tokyo skyline! The sofa is extremely comfortable, and the large TV is equally impressive.

On the right is the minibar, equipped with a Nespresso machine, TWG tea, and even Hojicha green tea. Amazingly, the entire minibar is complimentary, except for the miniature spirits! This includes soft drinks, wine, liquor, beer, and snacks. It’s an incredible value. They even provided extra mineral water, soda water, and additional treats.

This property only added its Club InterContinental relatively recently, about 3 to 4 years ago. The lounge space isn’t massive, but the views are absolutely stunning, especially during sunset.

The Evening Cocktail session is exceptionally well done. The hot food set looks great, and the mini-buffet features beef sandwiches, a salad bar, cheeses, cold cuts, smoked salmon, Chinese glass noodle salad, plenty of fresh fruit, and an abundance of cakes. They even had a wasabi shrimp hand roll. The beverage selection is also top-tier, pouring sparkling wine, spirits, wine, and beer. It’s truly one of the most outstanding Club lounges.

We had breakfast at the Club InterContinental again. The spread wasn’t huge, but it was nice.

In summary:

The Strings by InterContinental Tokyo is an amazingly high-value points redemption stay that showcases the full benefits of the IHG One Rewards program. I redeemed 73,000 points per night for a 2-night stay and used a Confirmable Suite Upgrade (CSU) to upgrade to a One Bedroom Suite, which goes for around 40,000 Baht a night. Right before checking in, I checked the rates—the total for 2 nights came out to about 90,000 Baht! The suite is huge, the location is prime, and the absolute best part is the complimentary minibar—such incredible value. Honestly, I had never stayed at an InterContinental in Japan before, but this place is truly phenomenal. I absolutely loved it. The breakfast was delicious, the lounge was great, the service was top-tier, and the location was spot on. I’m thoroughly impressed!
